EXISTENTIAL PSYCHOTHERAPY

Person standing on a mountain peak — a sense of perspective and clarity

What Would It Mean to Live More as Yourself?

“I'm wearing a mask other people don't see behind”
“I’ve built a life that looks good – but it doesn’t feel like mine”
“I’m productive but dead inside”
“I feel ashamed in my life”
“I’m stuck in a cycle I can't break”
“Deep down I hate myself”
“I don’t know who I am anymore”

Modern life leaves little space to stop and ask what we actually want from it. We've never been more digitally connected, yet many of us feel more disconnected than ever. The relationships that matter most aren't just with friends, family and partners – they're with ourselves too.

‘Rethink Your Self’ isn’t about diagnosing or fixing you. It's about exploring what's really going on behind the headlines so you can see your self, your life and your relationships more clearly. Together, we'll find your own right answers, choices and possibilities. Over time, clients describe feeling more fully themselves, with clearer direction, deeper relationships and greater self respect. Durable change – not sticking plasters.

What is existential psychotherapy?

Existential therapy helps people who feel something is wrong in their lives but often can't quite name what it is or what needs to change. The aim is authenticity – making decisions that feel genuinely right for you, not for someone else. There's no fixed formula, timeline, or predetermined outcomes: only the changes you choose to make and sustain.

It is a deeply personal, philosophical, and relational approach that considers the 'givens' of our lives – those aspects we can’t change – and the areas where we do have the freedom to choose, as well as the need to take responsibility for our decisions.

It's a deeply personal, philosophical and relational approach – one that holds both the things in our lives we can't change and the areas where we genuinely do have freedom to choose, and the responsibility that comes with it.

Instead of labels, we look at values and the tensions you carry – around things like freedom, responsibility, identity, spirituality, life and death – and how they show up in your relationships, your work and your inner life. That's where change is actually felt.

Sometimes this means sharing your worries for the first time without fear of judgement. Sometimes it means reshaping who you are and how you want to live the rest of your life, not just how you think.

Who is it for?

Existential therapy is for anyone seeking a clearer, more authentic way of living – ready to pause, look inward, explore deeper aspects of their identity and consider what the future might hold. Some have worked with therapists before; for others it's the first time.

You might be:

  • Feeling emotionally numb or disconnected, even if life looks fine on the surface

  • Stuck in a cycle of performance and pressure – overwhelmed, burnt out, or both

  • Struggling with self-hatred, shame, issues from the past or compulsive behaviours

  • Navigating grief, loss, or a major life transition

  • Questioning your identity, sexuality, relationships or place in the world

If you're a man navigating any of this, there's a dedicated page on my work with male clients here.
