EXISTENTIAL PSYCHOTHERAPY

Rethink Your Self for
a More Meaningful Life
“I'm wearing a mask other people don't see behind”
“I’m productive but dead inside”
“I feel like a ghost in my own life”
“I’ve built a life that looks good – but it doesn’t feel like mine”
“I’m stuck in the shame cycle”
“I don’t know who I am anymore”
“Deep down I hate myself”
In a busy world full of demands, it's challenging to pause and reflect on what we truly want from our lives. We have never been more connected, while at the same time, we can feel very disconnected. It’s easy to forget that life is all about relationships – not just with friends, families and partners but with ourselves too – and therapy is about taking time to build an understanding relationship with yourself as well as others.
‘Rethink Your Self’ is an invitation for us to explore what matters together – looking beyond the headline symptoms of your problems and finding your own right answers rather than taking someone else’s. It's about becoming more fully yourself.
What is existential psychotherapy?
Existential therapy helps people who feel something is wrong in their lives but often can't quite name what it is or what needs to change. It's not about reducing you to a diagnosis, trying to 'fix' you or pre-supposing there is a right answer or way to be – instead, it invites you to explore your lived experience, your values and your choices. Together, we’d work towards uncovering your own responses to your challenges, so you can live a more authentic and fulfilling life that feels right for you.
It is a deeply personal, philosophical, and relational approach that considers the 'givens' of our lives – those aspects we can’t change – and the areas where we do have the freedom to choose, as well as the need to take responsibility for our decisions. There are no pre-determined outcomes, only those changes you choose to make for yourself along the way.
We’ll look at how you relate to yourself, others and the world, exploring the tensions and questions that shape your life – freedom, responsibility, identity, meaning, spirituality, mortality – and how they show up in your relationships, work and inner world.
Taking an open-ended, person-centred and client-led approach means that we would focus on your unique challenges at your pace for as long as you want. This might be sharing your worries for the first time without judgement while you make sense of what is happening, or reflecting deeply on who and how you are, and what you want the rest of your life to be about.
Who is it for?
It's suitable for anyone who faces difficulties in life and feels ready to pause and reflect on their experiences, explore deeper aspects of their identity, and consider what the future looks like for them. Some have worked with therapists before, and for others it's the first time.
